This summer I don't think a single day went by when I didn't have to call the police to report drug dealing/taking, fighting, or worse... Reactions are far too slow. It took 3.5 months to close a cafe where, after months and months of drug-related violence, a literal murder occurred on the premises. Tweeting the STIB constantly demanding they do something for passenger safety only to get boilerplate replies and then... nothing... It's all so exhausting. For the first time in my 16 years here, I'm genuinely thinking of leaving. But if those of us who do care about the city and try to make a positive contribution to it leave, what then becomes of it?
